Peggy O'Neill Bio
Peggy O'Neill was born and raised on a farm in North Central Kansas. She has been involved in softball for the past forty years in some capacity, starting with coaching her daughter's fast pitch team in 1970.
Ms. O'Neill is married to Larry Aschermann and has two children and three grandchildren. Larry and Peggy ranch in Carthage, Missouri raising Charolais cattle.
Peggy was instrumental in the reclassification of women's slow-pitch softball in the state of Missouri. She was a strong advocate of the Title IX for women's sports. She has devoted her sports life to the betterment of women's athletics.
As a player/coach, her team won a National Championship in 2001. She has been playing senior softball for the past twelve years. To date in her senior softball career she has 14 championship rings, plus the Miken female player of the year ring and many All Tournament, All American and MVP awards. Her team has won the Triple Crown, the Tournament of Champions, and many National Tournaments.
She was inducted into the National Senior Softball Hall of Fame in 2009. This elite group consists of only sixteen women to receive this honor.
She has served on the Senior Softball Women's Advisory Board as the North Representative, actively placing players with teams.
Peggy gives free softball clinics to youngsters in the surrounding area of Carthage,MO.
When asked her favorite memory of softball she said her crowning glory is that she has played softball with both her children and two of her three grandsons. Kaden is only six, so she might have to wait to play with him.
