...........Mary Ellen Lawson Challenger and Husband Sid.......
Picture taken at Nantucket on August 6th 2003. Mary Ellen said they have been lucky to have their health. They indulge themselves in traveling which they both love. A year ago they were in China. (Reason for not attending 55th class reunion) They are looking forward to May when they will take a cruise down the Mississippi. They are planning on making the Canaan Retreat in July 2004.......

Dolores Rush ..........I asked Dolores what she had been doing for the past 55 years...........This is what she had to say......(I did not edit).......
Will try to compress the past 55 years into a few paragraphs for you to edit as you wish.
Ten years after graduation, my husband and I and our three children moved to Frederick, MD which we've called home ever since. Within months I went to work at the (now infamous) Fort Detrick, put in 30 years, 1 month and 3 days (not that I was counting or anything) before I retired. Haven't worked a day since! At least, not at a paid job.
For almost twenty years I was a beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics (my daughter was a director and I wanted to help support her endeavors); went from that to "Cookin' the American Way", a division of House of Lloyd; the company went bankrupt and I went OUT of direct sales. My husband passed away in 1999. A couple of years later I sold the farm (OK 7 acre farmette!) and the 7-room house, and purchased the three-room house my daughter and her family had owned. In the last couple of years I have been ordained to the priesthood of our church, and coincidentally have become a level 2 Reiki practioner. If anyone wonders what the heck THAT is, let me quick expound on the topic (My favorite thing!). It is a form of energy work that is very similar to the "Healing Hands" that many nurses do, a form of healing by laying on of hands, by allowing energy to flow through our hands and into the body of whoever we're working on. Y'all can check it out on the web, but take the more exaggerated claims with a grain of salt. This is a pretty good link: http://www.lonewolfvisions.com/pages/reiki.html As a result of my church work and my Reiki work, I've wound up as "keeper" of an old friend and former coworker, who has been in and out of the hospital and nursing homes since April. I can't be classified as "caregiver" but there are whole days out of every week that are devoted solely to taking care of his needs. I don't even know exactly what his medical problem is, but I can guess it's in large part old age and a Germanic mindset!
So, that's kind of where I am at in my life these days. Busier than the proverbial one-armed paper hanger, and mostly enjoying myself thoroughly. I doubt that I will be able to join you all at your get together this summer; like some of our classmates, I do have vision problems and I hesitate to tackle major highways. The only possibility is maybe conning my daughter into driving me over. Will have to tackle that idea after she's gotten over our Thanksgiving trek to New York!
Please give my love to all our classmates. We didn't realize how good we were in those days, did we?
And special thanks to you for putting together this web site. For those of us who can't travel, it is a real joy to be able to see and hear from our "old" friends!
