CAPITOL CARVERS EAGLE HEAD CANE PROJECT

 

A FEW MONTHS AGO THE CAPITOL CARVERS OF SALEM, OREGON STARTED CARVING EAGLE HEAD CANES FOR THE WOUNDED WARRIORS BACK FROM IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

In October we car pooled from Salem, Oregon to Ft.Lewis, WA to deliver the Eagle Head Canes

Outside the gate the driver was waiting to take us into Ft. Lewis. (Picture ID was required)

We are now inside Ft. Lewis

The array of Eagle Head Canes were laid on the tables

Bill Grater, President of Capitol Carvers gave the canes one last inspection

Lou Wakefield, instigator of the Eagle Head Project spoke a few words

The Army Chaplain honored us with a short prayer

The Wounded Warriors picked out their canes

I was privliged to have my picture taken between a Wounded Warrior and the Army Chaplain

This was the second phase of this Capitol Carvers Project. Thirty three canes were delivered - making a total of over fifty Wounded Warrior Canes
