Last weekend, April 2006, I received a message on my answering machine from Hank Kiesel saying that an e-mail to me had been returned (that famous year 1929 had been omitted!!!)    I sent him my correct address and an hour later the phone rang and it was Hank.    He had been impressed by the flowery stationery that I wrote on and the music 'Back Home Again in Indiana'  that accompanied the message. I told him that we had a 'family connection'.   I asked if the name Raymond Shaffer (sp?) meant anything to him and he said 'He is my brother-in-law and I said 'He is my cousin!!!' (actually my second cousin!!!!)   Then he said  'Do you know what I remember about you?' ... 'You were 'in love with John Payne!'.   I was 12 years old ...how could he remember that!!!!! Then I told him that when I went to NYC to school in the fall of 1947 that one of the first persons I met looked very much like John Payne and that we became good friends.        We had been in touch via the Internet since early in 2001. (when my kids gave me a computer).  He was living most of the time in Madrid, Spain.    His wife died in the summer of 1995 and since then he has traveled the world!!!!
